We spent some time in Vicksburg over the weekend, visiting Jessica and delivering her car to her during her stay for this part of her Americorps experience. Vicksburg and this part of Mississippi really surprised me — Monica had visited here a few months ago when Jessica first started with Americorps. Nice streets, quaint homes, beautiful riverfront parks all a part of this historic place. The campus reminds me of West Point for those of you who have been there. Very hilly, large expanses of yard connected by sidewalks that dot the campus. The building are very old, no where near as old as the buildings at West point but very similar.
We went out to dinner that evening then later to a bar where we met with the rest of their team at a place called the warehouse. The next morning we went to breakfast at Shoney’s then to the airport to pick-up our rental for the return trip to home. A good time had by all.
Monday when we got back we had an appointment at Social Security office just to confirm the amount we were to expect when I applied and to answer other questions nervous “newbees” in this retirement process often have … Just another step along the road to retirement for us.
